We know you might have questions before booking your first session—especially if you’re dealing with chronic pain or new to therapeutic massage. Below you’ll find answers to the most common concerns, based on real client questions and what people are searching for online.

What massage should I choose for my pain?

Here’s a quick guide:

  • Trigger Point Therapy: Best if you have focused, chronic pain or long-term muscular dysfunction (like shoulder impingement, sciatica, or migraines).

  • Deep Tissue Massage: Great for general tension or stiffness throughout the body, especially after repetitive strain or stress.

  • Sports Massage: Ideal if you're physically active and want to boost recovery, prevent injury, or relieve workout soreness.

  • Full Body Integrated Massage: Perfect for deep relaxation and nervous system reset, with aromatherapy and hot towels.

What is a trigger point and why does it hurt so much?

A trigger point is a hyper-irritable knot in a muscle that can cause localized pain or referred pain in other areas. It often forms when muscle fibers stay contracted due to overuse, injury, or stress. We use sustained, strategic pressure to release it—resulting in significant pain relief and improved function.

Is trigger point therapy painful?

Trigger point therapy can involve mild to intense pressure, especially when working on stubborn knots. Most clients describe it as “good pain” that leads to immediate or next-day relief. We always adjust pressure based on your comfort level.

How soon will I feel relief after a massage?

Many clients feel noticeably better immediately or within 24 hours. You may also feel sore in treated areas—like after a good workout—but this typically fades quickly and gives way to better range of motion and less pain.

What massage should I choose for my pain?

It depends on your needs:

  • For chronic issues: weekly or bi-weekly sessions for 1–2 months

  • For maintenance: monthly sessions

  • For athletes: pre/post-event or integrated into your training schedule

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, we are not accepting insurance, but we can provide detailed receipts for reimbursement if your provider allows massage therapy under your plan or FSA/HSA.

What should I expect during my first session?

We’ll begin with a quick intake where you tell us what’s going on—tightness, pain patterns, past injuries, etc. Then we’ll tailor the session accordingly. Most sessions are 60 or 90 minutes. Dress comfortably; we’ll guide you through positioning, breathing, and communication during the massage.

“Josh asked the right questions, explained what was going on, and the session was unlike anything I’ve had before.” — Jon Schuller
